New Zealand ushered in the new year with fireworks at the Sky Tower in Auckland. Thousands of people gathered in central Auckland to behold the fireworks display that went off as the clock struck 12am.
The Sky Tower was adorned with colourful animated laser displays of geometric shapes and animals including a green gecko climbing down the 328m tall tower.
