According to India Today, the leader of the House in Rajya Sabha Piyush Goyal has called a meeting with opposition parties over the incident where TMC MP Santanu Sen snatched papers from the IT Minister and tore them in the House.

After the Rajya Sabha was adjourned even as suspended TMC MP Santanu Sen refused to leave the House, IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “TMC has a culture of violence in Bengal. They’re trying to bring the same to the Parliament. What message do they want to give to the next generation of Parliamentarians?”

Pegasus snooping an attack on people’s voice: Rahul Gandhi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said the Pegasus snooping is at attack on the voice of the people. “A Court-ordered inquiry should be conducted to ascertain who is allowed this to happen – the Home Minister or Prime Minister,” he said in a tweet.

Indian government in talks with Pfizer: Health minister says in LS
An expert group of the Indian govt is still in talks with Pfizer over COVID vaccine supply, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said in the Lok Sabha.
Meanwhile, MoS (Health) Bharti Pravin Pawar said in the Lok Sabha that a total of Rs 9725.15 crore have been spent so far on the COVID-19 vaccination programme, including procurement of vaccines and operational cost for vaccination.
“A total of 135 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine are expected to be available between August 2021 to December 2021,” she said, adding that there has been no delay in entering into purchase agreements with the domestic vaccine manufacturers.

Rajya Sabha adjourned till 2.30 pm
Rajya Sabha was adjourned within a minute of reconvening at 12 pm amid ruckus by the Opposition over Pegasus snooping and TMC MP Santanu Sen’s suspension from the House.
“As you (Sen) know that a resolution has been passed to suspend you from attending the proceedings till the end of the Monsoon session, we request you to leave the House,” Deputy Chairperson of Rajya Sabha Harivansh said before adjourning the House.
The House will reconvene at 2.30 pm, when Private Member Bills will be taken up. Among the Bills listed today is the ‘Uniform Civil Code in India Bill’.

The JCP was constituted in Lok Sabha in December 2019, and was expected to submit its report in the budget session. The Bharatiya Janata Party has issued a whip to all its Rajya Sabha MPs to be present in the House. This comes amid speculations that the government will move a motion seeking suspension of Trinamool Congress MP Shantanu Sen for snatching papers from Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.

Parliament Monsoon Session Latest Update: TMC MP Shantanu Sen was suspended from the Rajya Sabha on Friday for the remaining period of the monsoon session after a motion moved by the government was passed by the House
Parliament is expected to witness another stormy day today with media houses putting out more names of alleged targets of the Pegasus snooping programme while the government preparing to double down on Opposition MPs who reportedly misbehaved in the House yesterday.
The government will move a motion seeking suspension of Trinamool Congress MP Shantanu Sen for snatching papers from Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, sources said. They said some opposition MPs “misbehaved” with the treasury bench members, including a minister, even after the House was adjourned.
The rumours were strengthened as the BJP issued a whip to all its Rajya Sabha MPs asking them to be present in the House.
Meanwhile, Congress has moved another privilege motion against Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar for misleading the parliament on deaths due to shortage of oxygen in the country amid COVID-19 outbreak.
