Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh announced his decision to hand over the probe into Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan firing that followed the Bargari sacrilege to the CBI. This is in line with the recommendations of the Justice (retd) Ranjit Singh Commission. The CM also announced higher compensation and jobs for the victims and families of the police firing at Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan that took place on October 14, 2015.The decision to hand over the case to the CBI has been taken to ensure an objective investigation into the incident, said Capt Amarinder Singh, while addressing a press conference in Chandigarh. The Punjab govt has already handed over certain other cases of sacrilege of Holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji to the central agency.
